We would like to inform you that one of our employees has been selected to receive the 2018 Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Award (paper).
The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Award was established in 33 with the purpose of ``encouraging the development of Japanese mechanical engineering and industry,'' and there are three categories: technical achievements, papers, and products.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held at the Meiji Kinenkan on April 4th.

Our award details are as follows.

Winner Katsuya Okayama (Advics Co., Ltd.)
Yuya Kishimoto (Advics Co., Ltd.)
Kenichi Hiratsuka (Chiba Institute of Technology)
Award-winning paper Atmospheric effects on the wear characteristics of phenolic resin composites (verification of atmospheric moisture effect and proposal of tribolysis gas effect)
Proceedings of the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers, Volume 82, No. 840 (August 2016), 8-16
Paper summary In this paper, we verified that atmospheric moisture affects brake pad wear, which has been known empirically.
Furthermore, they proposed a new mechanism in which decomposition gas generated from the brake pad itself due to friction is also involved in wear.
