We are pleased to announce that one of our employees has received the Asahara Award Academic Encouragement Prize at the 69th Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan Awards.

The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan Awards were established in 1951 with the aim of encouraging the advancement and development of automotive engineering and technology. The awards include the Academic Contribution Award, Technical Contribution Award, Asahara Academic Encouragement Award, Asahara Technical Achievement Award, Best Paper Award, and Technical Development Award.

The Asahara Academic Encouragement Award, which our employee received, is awarded to promising young individuals under the age of 37 who have published a paper or other work that contributes to automotive engineering or technology within the past three years.

The awards we received are as follows:

Award Winners Yusuke Aoki (ADVICS CO., LTD.)
Award-winning paper Evaluation of Brake Shim Damping under Actual Conditions
EuroBrake2017 EB2017-VDT-009
Paper Summary In this paper, we focused on the discrepancy between the damping measurement method and the actual usage state of the shim, developed a device that can measure friction damping, which is difficult to quantify using conventional methods, and reported the results of improving the correlation between the brake squeal suppression effect and damping. This contributes to the theoretical approach to brake squeal suppression.
