ADVICS CO., LTD., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, President: Akira Akiyama, hereinafter referred to ADVICS) is pleased to announce that its newly developed brake pad, "Sustena (New Environmental Regulation Compliant) Pad," has been adopted for the MAZDA "CX-5," which was released in Japan in May 2026.
[Development Background]
The new European Union environmental regulations for automobiles, "Euro 7" (hereinafter, Euro 7), also regulate brake dust. While our main product, non-asbestos (NAO) material, has a low environmental impact, it has shortcomings in terms of braking performance compared to the low-steel material that is mainstream in Europe. ADVICS has been working to achieve both compliance with regulations and high braking performance.
[Product overview]
This product is characterized by its high braking power while meeting environmental regulations*1, achieved by using NAO material, which does not contain asbestos or copper, as a base, and increasing the proportion of heat-resistant organic and inorganic materials and ceramics. In its development, AI-powered simulations of compounding patterns were used, and after numerous tests and evaluations, the superiority of this product was recognized, leading to its commercialization.
*1 Particulate matter (PM10) generated from brakes during driving is subject to regulation.
(For reference: Euro 7 regulations (per vehicle))
| Vehicle Category | From 2026 | From 2035 |
| Gasoline-powered vehicles (ICE) | 7mg/km or less | 3mg/km or less |
| Electric vehicles (EVs) | 3mg/km or less | 3mg/km or less |

ADVICS will continue to provide rapid solutions from a customer perspective to address challenges arising from electrification, environmental regulations, and other related issues.
