Advics has made promoting diversity a priority in its sustainability efforts, and is working to create an environment in which each employee can maximize their capabilities and continue to play an active role.

As part of this, we will begin offering "diversity training for women's participation in the workforce" to supervisors of staff workplaces from 2022. This year, we have expanded the scope to include technical workplaces.

Diversity training for technical supervisors

From October to November, we held eight diversity training sessions at our Kariya and Handa plants. 10 supervisors from eight technical female empowerment model workplaces participated. We invited Ms. Aiko Sano, CEO of Woomax Inc., as the lecturer, and she spoke about reviewing unconscious biases (unconscious prejudices and assumptions), understanding the tendency to be reserved, and how to specifically speak to subordinates.

During the group work, participants discussed topics such as "What can we do as a small step to create a workplace where everyone can work comfortably?" and "What can we do to increase the number of female supervisors?"

Comments from supervisors who attended the course

A variety of feedback was received from the participants.

・I learned about the social background, my own company's situation, and examples from other companies, and came to understand the importance of respecting diversity.
・I was able to gain a deeper understanding of the lack of self-confidence among some employees, which had been bothering me for some time. In order to bring out their hidden motivation, I listen carefully and try to understand their intentions.
・At my workplace, there is overtime and working on holidays, which can be difficult for members who are raising children. I felt that I wanted to make improvements to create a comfortable working environment for everyone.
・QC circle activities*Through roles such as leader, members will be motivated to become supervisors.
*A small group activity in which participants independently identify problems in quality control and quality improvement and make improvements.

We introduce the voices of those in charge of promoting women's participation in the workforce.

in conclusion

In addition to this, we are taking various measures to promote diversity, such as holding a roundtable discussion between the president and the working team for promoting women's participation in the workplace. ADVICS will continue to work to create an environment in which everyone can maximize their capabilities and continue to play an active role, regardless of gender, age, nationality, or whether or not they have a disability.
